Multi Agency Support Teams (MASTs)
Update on developments taking place in MASTs (formerly Service District Teams)
The Partnership is moving to develop better access to multi-agency support services in and around Families of Schools.
Change of Director
Following the departure of Alan Marshall, Director of Local Delivery, it has been agreed that MASTs will now come under the responsibility of Jayne Ludlam, Director of Children and Families Services.
Service Districts
The term Service Districts will be phased out. Multi-agency support services continue to be planned, organised and delivered around Families of Schools, Children's Centres and GPs. This helps to ensure continuity for our front line staff and services.
Community Assemblies
Multi-agency support services are developing links to Community Assemblies and are working with them to achieve local priorities.
Social Worker for Prevention and Intervention
Every MAST has a Social Worker for Prevention and Intervention who promote the Safeguarding and well-being of children and young people by providing support to the Multi Agency Allocation Meeting process.
They support, assist and advise schools and professionals with the development and use of the Common Assessment Framework to help identify childrens' needs. Please contact these workers (contact directory available for viewing/download below) if you need any help in accessing support for children with additional needs.
Multi Agency Support Teams (MASTs) – Access to Services
Our aim is to provide Sheffield’s children and their families with the very best support services. We will work with you to deliver the right support in a timely way. There have been a number of developments taking place in Multi Agency Support Teams (formally Service District teams).
We have been listening to you, and making changes to the way our support is delivered. We are creating a joined up service with Children’s Social Work Services and this will help us to develop our seamless and safe services around the needs of children & families.
What’s new in Multi Agency Support Teams:
- A one-stop shop approach to a range of services
- One contact number for your Multi Agency Support Team
- A named Team Manager and Social Worker (Prevention & Intervention)
The Teams have more new resources available in the coming months:

- Parental Support Advisors (based in schools)
- Primary Mental Health Workers (from October)
