Integrated Offer for Children & Young People Consultation
"The Integrated Offer for Children and Young People" is the statement of the Integrated Youth Support Service (IYSS) about the services that young people aged 8-19+ can expect to be available to them, and is a key element of the developing IYSS Strategy.
All local authorities in England and Wales were required to create Integrated Youth Support Services (IYSS) by April 2008. The rationale for IYSS development is described in Youth Matters (2005); Youth Matters: Next Steps (2006); and Aiming High: 10 Year Strategy for Positive Activities (2008). Integrated Youth Support is about providing more flexible co-ordinated services, in locations and at times that suit young people, shaped by their interests, wishes and aspirations, and includes the following:-
- Positive Activities - a varied menu of things to do outside of school hours.
- Information, Advice and Guidance – helping young people in their journey to decide on and access future education, training and employment opportunities
- Targeted Youth Support - specific services and additional support offered to the young people who need it most.
Youth Matters: Next Steps requires an integrated Offer to deliver:
Places to go
Things to do
Someone to talk to
Our local draft Offer also includes Something to say
We received comments from all interested parties, including professionals working with children and young people; parents/carers; members of the community; and most importantly children and young people themselves.
We have also consulted with stakeholders via a number of forums and events.
The consultation period was from 25 January 2010 – 31 March 2010.
The draft Offer is currently being updated following the repsonses we have received from stakeholders. A copy of the updated Offer will be available to download from this page very soon.
In the meantime, if you have any questions/queries or comments regarding the consultation or and/or the Offer document, please contact Gail Gibbons, Youth Strategy Manager, on 0114 273 5582 or via Gail.Gibbons@sheffield.gov.uk
