Every Child Matters Consultation 2009

From November to December 2009, approximately 7,000 children and young people aged 0-19+ were consulted. Schools, Children’s Centres, Colleges and work based training providers were all involved.

Also, focus groups have taken place, with sessions being held with specific vulnerable groups (e.g. looked after children , children with disabilities, young people not in education, employment or training, etc).

Following the analysis, children and young people will identify priorities to further examine the reasons behind certain findings and, with the help of service providers, develop solutions to the issues raised.

The consultation is based around the 5 Every Child Matters outcomes:

  • Be Healthy
  • Staying Safe
  • Enjoy and Achieve
  • Positive Contribution
  • Economic Well-being

Feedback will be given through newsletters and presentations to providers to ensure that the findings from the consultation are widely disseminated throughout the city.  This will help to feed the views of children and young people into the planning, delivery and evaluation of children and young people's services in Sheffield.

The findings from the full citywide consultation can be found in the attached reports below.  These include:
